Eads steps down after 35-year career at company

Emanuel Eads has retired as president and CEO of Central Parking almost three years after the company was taken private by a consortium of investment firms.

Taking Eads\' place is James Marcum, who as vice Chairman and CEO oversaw the liquidation of Circuit City Stores five months after joining the retailer with the reputation of a turnaround expert. Previously, Marcum held senior positions at Ultimate Electronics, Hollywood Entertainment, Stage Stores and Melville Corp.

“I am pleased to be joining Central Parking and to help continue its tradition of excellence and build on its myriad of opportunities for strategic growth, expansion and marketing opportunities,” Marcum said.

Eads, who joined Central Parking in 1974, had led the Nashville-based company since 2005. In a statement, the company said his retirement wraps up a transition plan fashioned by Central Parking’s owners, Kohlberg & Co., Versa Capital and Lubert-Adler.

“More than just the major part of my career, Central Parking has been an important part of my life, and I retire taking great pride in the accomplishments we have achieved and the culture we have fostered," Eads said.

Central Parking Chairman Jonathan Ward said Eads “set the highest standard of integrity in leading the Company through a period of record expansion. Emanuel balanced commitments to clients, customers, employees and shareholders while stewarding Central Parking seamlessly through the ownership change.”
